Repairing A Turntable
Turntables, like any mechanical device, can develop technical problems that require either repair or replacement of a part. RCA Pin Connectors
These connectors are used with audio or audio-visual equipment and are designed solely for use with unbalanced signals. The connectors are colored according to the signal type. The red connector is used for sending signals to the right channel ands the white connector is used for sending signals to the left channel.

Color Codes of Audio RCA Connectors
The common phono connectors, also commonly called RCA jacks or phono plugs, can be used for both analog and digital audio. These phono connector first appeared prior to 1940 as a quick and easy way for radios and phonographs to connect a turntable pickup to the radio or amplifier chassis.
They connect with friction and are not designed to be plugged and unplugged repeatedly but are very convenient, and their low cost has made them popular for over 70 years. Initially intended for audio frequency connections only, the RCA plug was also used for analog composite video and non-critical radio-frequency applications.

Connectors used with passive speakers
The SpeakON connector system is a dedicated connector equipped with a lock mainly used for professional equipment. It is used to connect power amplifiers to passive speakers. After inserting the cable into the keyhole-like interface the connector is turned clockwise to lock it securely in place.

Speaker Phone Connectors
The standard phone cable for speakers have a single shielded core, but dedicated speaker cables with two cores are used with passive speakers.

Stripped Speaker Cables & Wires
Probably the wiring most home audio users are familiar with is the stripped speaker cables which are designed for general use but there are variations in quality and guages which can be chosen to reduce noise and other unwanted audio anomalies. They are usually color-coded to indicate the positive and negative wires. Connecting the wires in reverse will cause the phases to reverse, so be sure to connect the power amplifier and passive speakers so that their positive and negative sides match up.
